Our story
Abadi is a family of collectors in Florence, passionate about quality pieces with a story.
Florence has always been a city of collectors, and we are part of that tradition. For our family, collecting began as a passion: the pleasure of finding a piece, learning where it comes from, and living with it. Abadi grew out of this passion.
From Florence, our search reaches across the whole of Europe. We look for pieces made with care, and we value where a piece comes from, who lived with it, and how it was used. When a piece finds a new home, we want its story to go with it.
Our pieces come from across Europe, from Italy, France, Austria, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain and Scotland, and reach from early nineteenth-century cabinetmaking to modernism and contemporary design: Murano glass, hand-knotted wool, teak, brass and chrome. Every piece in this catalogue is presented with its maker, period, materials and dimensions, as faithfully as we know them.
A family passion
Collecting is our family’s passion before it is our trade. We offer pieces with the same care and curiosity with which we would choose them for our own home.
Provenance first
We favour pieces with a known history, and we say plainly what we know and what we do not: attributions, “in the style of”, original labels and expert appraisals.
Honest description
Maker, period, materials, dimensions and condition are stated as they are. Nothing is embellished, so that every buyer can decide with confidence.
Quality that lives on
We choose pieces for the quality of their materials and making, and for their ability to belong in a contemporary home as naturally as in a historic one.
